What PDRN Is
PDRN is a skin booster ingredient. Unlike PRP, it does not come from the patient’s blood, so no blood draw is needed. VAMP is a PDRN solution that also contains vitamins, amino acids and minerals.
How It Is Applied
- PDRN / skin booster mesotherapy: the product is applied across the skin of the area being treated.
- SkinPen® with PDRN: the product is applied during a SkinPen microneedling treatment.
Who the PDRN Skin Booster Is For
It is for adults who want to improve the overall quality of the skin, such as texture, tone and the look of pores and fine lines, and who prefer a treatment that does not need a blood draw.
Who the PDRN Skin Booster Is Not For
It may not be appropriate for patients who:
- Have a known allergy to an ingredient of the product, including fish.
- Have an active skin infection, a cold sore outbreak or irritated skin in the area.
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Medical history is reviewed before treatment.
What to Expect at the Visit
- Medical history and treatment consent are completed.
- The skin is cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied when needed.
- The PDRN skin booster is applied to the area.
- Aftercare instructions are given and the plan is reviewed.
Sessions and Results
Several treatments are generally recommended to get the most from a skin booster, because the skin changes gradually. A single treatment can also be done. The plan is defined with each patient.
Downtime and Aftercare
The skin can look red and feel a little sensitive for about a day.
- Skip makeup for the rest of the day.
- Use a gentle cleanser and sunscreen, and avoid direct sun for a few days.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and saunas for 24 hours.
- Pause retinol, acids and exfoliants until the skin no longer feels sensitive.
Written aftercare instructions are given at the visit. Contact the practice about redness, swelling or irritation that increases instead of improving.
PDRN or PRP?
